Say What You Want

Sharleen Spiteri & Texas

Happy Happy Birthday!
Sharleen Spiteri!

Dear President-Elect Obama:
Re: a dog for your daughters

I implore you to look into rescuing a retired greyhound.

Not only are they a "shelter" dog,
they are hypo-allergenic, highly affectionate,
very docile, have a reputation as a "45mph couch-potato"

and you would be sending a great signal to the world regarding the use of animals in the "entertainment" industry.

Oh, and one more thought:

you can never take a bad photograph of a greyhound,
and one would make a very handsome addition to The First Family.

Obama v
Mapplethorpe's Birthday

I don't know about you, but the coincidence of Barack Obama being elected president on Robert Mapplethorpe's birthday, being elevated to the highest office in the land parallels Robert Mapplethorpe's journey and work elevating the black man in the world of art, as well as in the history of photography, is absolutely uncanny.

I'm sure, had Mapplethorpe lived to see this moment, he would transform Obama in his inimitable style and capture "that perfect moment.

McCain Camp Releases
Obama|Mapplethorpe Photo!

In a last-ditch effort at swinging the election in John McCain's direction, his camp released, just under an hour ago, and on Election Day, which is, coincidentally, controversial photographer Robert Mapplethorpe's birthday, a frontal nude portrait of the Democratic nominee for president, Senator Barack Obama.

According to sources who asked to remain anonymous, this photograph was taken in late 1988, close to the end of Mapplethorpe's death in 1989. Apparently this photograph was commissioned by Vanity Fair magazine for an article on Obama entitled "Nothing to Hide." Dominic Dunne was present at the shooting and vouched for the fact that "nothing untoward occurred" during the session, as Mapplethorpe's photographic sessions were, at times, known for their drug-induced antics.

Attempts to reach the Obama camp were unsuccessful given the tragic event of the day, the passing of Barack Obama's grandmother, Madelyn Dunham. According to anonymous sources within the McCain camp, the Republican candidate for president planned to release this photograph at a time and in a manner which would spare his grandmother the embarrassment.

There was no comment from the Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation, and when Mapplethorpe's former attorney, Michael Ward Stout, a current board member of the Foundation was contacted, he said that no comment would be released by Mapplethorpe's Estate, but he did express the Foundation's support for Barack Obama. A message was left with Mapplethorpe's brother, the photographer Edward (Maxey) Mapplethorpe, but the call was not returned.

The Obama camp was not concerned with the cheap shot of the McCain organization, while a spokesman for McCain said "this is the last-minute surprise" the press had been hinting at. Recent calls to the McCain organization in Arlington, Virginia were not returned.

Personal Daily Horoscope of Monday, 3 November 2008
Barack Obama, born 4 August 1961

This is a time of challenge and crisis. Very often this crisis occurs in the form of persons who are working at cross-purposes to your efforts. They may or may not oppose you intentionally, but the thrust of their actions forces you to prove that what you are doing is worthwhile. You may be very angry at these people, feeling that they are motivated by nothing but malice. In fact their motives are the same as yours, which you must learn to understand. Challenges may also occur in connection with your efforts to build something up, to create a material structure or to get a project going. Or they may occur as a test of some new aspect of your personality that has recently come into being.

I thought a screenshot of Barack Obama's horoscope for Election Day, November 4, 2008, was absolutely telling. Note the graphic: houses. Uncanny, and this was not altered in any way.
And the horoscope itself is telling: BIG PLANS!

Gay Marriage & Adoption

All Bias, All Bullshit.
Where are they now?

The very personable Miles O'Brien has been relegated to a "reporter" for CNN, even though he is listed as their "chief technology consultant." What an absolute loss for CNN, except they are too damn stupid to realize their fuck-up.

The absolutely magnetic and charming Soledad O'Brien (NOT related to Miles O'Brien!) maintains her top spot as a "reporter" for CNN, covering special reports on Martin Luther King and she also distinguished herself as the only broadcast journalist permitted to travel with first lady Laura Bush on her trip to Moscow in the fall of 2003. What? Campbell Brown? Better yet, Kiren Chetry. Give me a break! It wasn't broken, so why did they fuck THAT up?

And Paula Zahn. She was just great. Apparently she made some news of her own with her marital issues, and something about nesting birds on the building where she lived. Nevertheless, Paula Zahn had that special "something" which really made reporting the news electric.

We the people...

Barack Obama's Grandmother died.

Sadly, on the eve of one of his greatest moments, Barack Obama's grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, who was white and has been described as "his rock", has passed on. She was 86, and died from cancer.

Obama has spoken about his grandmother often on the stump, talking about what an integral figure she was in his youth and how she struggled against the glass ceiling in her career. He and his family traveled to Hawaii in August to visit her.

"She's the one who put off buying a new car or a new dress for herself so that I could have a better life," he said in his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention. "She poured everything she had into me. And although she can no longer travel, I know that she's watching tonight, and that tonight is her night as well."

Our prayers are with the Obama family at this time in his life.

His victory tomorrow will be bittersweet.
