The Reaping

Is this the new Exorcist?

Post #560: Month + Year of Birth

This is what I get when I feed my skewed, gay-oriented vision, classically-trained practices and experience with Photoshop 2.5 ingested by a quarter-century old kid with Cindy Sherman, Gilbert + George, divided by my influence and scarred by the patriotic palette.

The Descent?

OK. So the studio that brought us SAW and HOSTEL,
and is previewing SAW III (brilliant poster graphics!),
is descending upon us everywhere on August 4th.

Fuck, I'm such a lame-o for not knowing the original photograph.
I thought it was Man Ray, then Steiglitz or Steichen,
but I haven't researched it, and it's a tough one to research.
-5 on the credibility factor for being stumped on one I should know.
Who's screaming now?

Love the graphics on this one too.

Not to be believed!

I cannot doubt the accuracy of this reading.
Especially when the deck is the new "Animal Helpers."
Grace has her long nose in this one.

A truly great song...

just because the lyrics are brilliant,
and the soaring sounds spectacular.
Trust me.
It's not all about you.

Fourth song, side 2.
Greg Lake's voice was never more mellifluous.
Side 2 itself is a tour de force.
Keith Emerson takes the keyboards to new heights on Side 1.
I can pass on Carl Palmer almost any day.
Side 4, when the mood is right, navigates the soul properly.

Nobody Loves You Like I Do
Emerson, Lake & Palmer

(Lake, Sinfield)

You can rent your blues and photograph your soul
You can even dig some diamonds out of rock’n roll
You can change the world
But if you lose control
They will take away your T-shirt.

And when you lose your reason and there’s no release
You can buy seclusion but you can’t buy peace
You got everything but the golden fleece
And a shepherd for your sadness
Now I don’t expect your sympathy
This is what and where I want to be
For as long as my blood runs
Love comes and goes
God knows
Nobody loves you like I do
No no no nobody loves you like I do
It comes unrelentless
I’ve tried so hard to prevent this
But nobody loves you like I do.

There are highway dreams in my head tonight
I can’t breathe without you and I’m losing height
I don’t need a periscope or second sight
To see nothing lasts forever
With a planet stare and a guiding star
You can only be what you think you are
If I didn’t approve it remove it
I’m coming through
Oh nobody loves you like I do
And I’m dirty, mean and unworthy
This is true
But if somebody says he loves you
From all sides out here above you
Believe me nobody loves you like I do.

For you know I will love you sweet and strong
I will love you full, I will love you long
I will love you right even better wrong - tonight
Tonight.

Nobody loves you like I do
I can’t make it, shake it or break it without you
And if you pause at my insistence
I’ll be yours from any distance
So you see, nobody loves you like I do...

Nobody loves you like I do
I said nobody loves you like I do
It comes unrelentless
I’ve tried so hard to prevent this
But nobody loves you like I do
I said nobody loves you
I said nobody loves you
I said nobody loves you like I do...

Guess what's dying this weekend?

My students really have no idea how old I am, in gay years.

Like I never stayed up late into the evening waiting (was it Kasey Casem?) for the latest Queen song, Elton song, or, if I was really lucky, club hit (then a secret because it was something I only heard before in a gay bar, perhaps when I was 15 or 16, when I saw a young blonde boy wearing a lime green prom dress spin on his head, breakdance-style).

Those cassettes, and many others, long-tossed, are about to be joined by the Miami Collection, save four: Bob Braucci's mix, which has Bronski Beat, Erasure, Depeche and Frankie, and my three-volume collection from 1986.

We'll talk about that later. Let's just say I made a bad choice then.
But running into Michael Westhall was absolutely unbelievable.
Who knew he'd be a doctor.

"People are apprehensive when they meet me. They think I'm going to eat them. But underneath it all, I'm quite shy."

Radio Ga Ga
Song Duration 5:45
Written by Roger Taylor.
Performed by Queen.
Released 23rd January, 1984.
Spent 9 weeks on chart and reached number 2. Went Silver.
Inspired by his son (Felix) saying Radio Pooh Pooh!

Radio - radio
I'd sit alone and watch your light
My only friend through teenage nights
And everything I had to know
I heard it on my radio

You gave them all those old time stars
Through wars of worlds - invaded by Mars
You made 'em laugh - you made 'em cry
You made us feel like we could fly
Radio

So don't become some background noise
A backdrop for the girls and boys
Who just don't know or just don't care
And just complain when you're not there
You had your time, you had the power
You've yet to have your finest hour
Radio - radio

All we hear is radio ga ga
Radio goo goo
Radio ga ga
All we hear is radio ga ga
Radio blah blah
Radio what's new ?
Radio, someone still loves you

We watch the shows - we watch the stars
On videos for hours and hours
We hardly need to use our ears
How music changes through the years

Let's hope you never leave old friend
Like all good things on you we depend
So stick around 'cos we might miss you
When we grow tired of all this visual
You had your time - you had the power
You've yet to have your finest hour
Radio - radio

All we hear is radio ga ga
Radio goo goo
Radio ga ga
All we hear is radio ga ga
Radio goo goo
Radio ga ga
All we hear is radio ga ga
Radio blah blah
Radio what's new ?
Someone still loves you

Radio ga ga (ga ga)
Radio ga ga (ga ga)
Radio ga ga (ga ga)

You had your time - you had the power
You've yet to have your finest hour
Radio - radio

Laura's Bush was not hurt...

in the making of this song.

You know this 2003 French Disco Traxx release is seriously on the mark, and overdue on this side of the fence, especially when it features the sounds o DiscDr Levan for the Garage and his definitive 7'17" mix of Grace's PULL UP TO THE BUMPER.

PET SHOP BOYS | I Don't Know What You Want, But I Can't Give It Anymore

Did you get what you want?
Do you know what it is? Do you care?
Is he better than me?
Was it your place or his? Who was there?
Did you think it was wrong?
Do you find that it's worse than it was?
Has it gone on too long?
Do you mind that it hurts me? Because....
You're breaking my heart

I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more
I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more
I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more
I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more

You're breaking my heart

Was it cracking the code or just filling in time?
Was that all?
So then why'd you go back to the scene off the crime?
Did he call?
Shall I take further blame or another assault on how it was?
Then we'll get to the fact that it's always my fault, just because.....
http://www.petshopboys.co.uk/You're breaking my heart

I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more
I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more
I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more
I don't know what you want but I can't give it any more.....

Don't know what you want
Don't know what you want

I wish I had a toothache...

Let's see:
1. pain in my ass. Nope.
2. pain in my neck. Nope.
3. pain in my tooth. Nope.
4. ache in my heart. Yep.
Fuck.

This is how my heart feels.

Good Night?

M Night returns to form in this brilliantly directed and equally original story of Story who is hardly a draught of a character.

When the residents of The Cove are visited by a new tenant and an after-hours tenant, the super manages to find both his voice and his calling.

No "I see dead people" in this film, and the red you will be seeing will not be accompanied by yellow. As JAWS kept you from the beach, this one might keep you from the pool, but you just might believe in Story.

Regret.

This song is flawless for so many reasons.
It stands up after 33 years.
The orchestral arrangement.
And it perfectly mirrors the hurt I feel now,
and the hurt I've felt every time I've heard it.
And I've lost count of that.
Let's just say I had a black vinyl original.
And the graphic I picked to go with this,
along with the hyperlink?
Well, sure beats the alternative of the moment.

I've Seen That Movie Too
I can see by your eyes you must be lying
When you think I don't have a clue
Baby you're crazy
If you think that you can fool me
Because I've seen that movie too

The one where the players are acting surprised
Saying love's just a four letter word
Between forcing smiles, with the knives in their eyes
Well their actions become so absurd

So keep your auditions for somebody
Who hasn't got so much to lose
`Cause you can tell by the lines I'm reciting
That I've seen that movie too

It's a habit I have, I don't get pushed around
Stop twinkling your star like you do
I'm not the blue print for all of your B films
Because I've seen that movie too

NUMB

Who knew this was written by Diane Warren?
And performed brilliantly by the PSB.
And felt deeply by me.
Feel it, the song will come.

Don't wanna hear the news
What's going on
What's coming through
I don't wanna know
Don't wanna know
Just wanna hide away
Make my my escape
I want the world
To leave me alone
Feels like I feel too much
I've seen too much
For a little while
I want to forget

I wanna be numb
I don't wanna feel this pain no more
Wanna lose touch
I just wanna go and lock the door
I don't wanna think
I don't wanna feel nothing
I wanna be numb
I just wanna be
Wanna be numb

Can't find no space to breathe
World's closing in
Right on me now
Well that's how it feels
That's how it feels
Too much light
There's too much sound
Wanna turn it off
Wanna shut it out
I need some relief
Think that like I think too much
I've seen too much
There is just too much
Thought in my head

I wanna be numb
I don't wanna feel this pain no more
Wanna lose touch
I just wanna go and lock the door
I don't wanna think
I don't wanna feel nothing
I wanna be numb
I just wanna be
Wanna be
Taken away from all the madness
Need to escape
Escape from the pain
I'm out on the edge
About to lose my mind
For a little while
For a little while
I wanna be numb

I don't wanna think
I don't wanna feel nothing
I wanna be numb
I don't wanna feel this pain no more
Wanna lose touch
I just wanna go and lock the door
I don't wanna think
I don't wanna feel nothing
I wanna be numb
I just wanna be
Wanna be numb
I just wanna be
Wanna be numb

No More Tears...

Please, I've seen too many...

Pet Shop Boys

I saw their first show ever in the US (Miami) and the first show of their second tour (also in Miami) and both were brilliant. Come to think of it, I wore a skirt to the first show and the roadies whistled at me, and Kirk thought I was all the rage. Then again, he had a date. And the first night was cancelled thirty minutes to showtime.
Jesus and I went to the second show. I'm sure we had boatloads of sushi afterwards.

Can't say who's going this time, but I can name the people who aren't going. And we probably will have boatloads of sushi this time around.

Pretty much I have my eye on someone at the moment...
but I won't be saying "I'm with stupid."

75% is pretty damn good...

I'm not terribly sure what this means, but I know what my question was. And the one before this said there was a 75% chance we'd have a go at it, but we just needed to talk, and that was my premise the entire time...

The Teacher is the Student, here

I've had enough of danger
And people on the streets
I'm looking out for angels
Just trying to find some peace
Now I think it's time
That you let me know
So if you love me
Say you love me
But if you don't, just let me go...

Retreat ***
Valid during many months: In this phase in your life you may sometimes get the feeling that you are losing your footing. You might discover that you have had some illusions on the way you have lived your life. This discovery can make you feel very sad and tired, and it may give rise to the wish to withdraw from reality for a while. Maybe you also feel misunderstood and neglected by your loved ones and people close to you. But your desire to withdraw hints at a deep need to deal with inner processes. If you can find a way to bring your feelings into awareness, you will be able to gain a lot from this experience.
An active retreat from oppressive life circumstances can help you to gather the necessary strength to accept feelings which you might find confusing right now. Try to create some space for yourself by taking a break to relax, spending time in a health spa, or learning some kind of meditation. Give yourself enough space so that you have the chance to listen to your inner voice and to learn to trust its message! It will bring you in touch with your own inner calling and help you to unmask old illusions and to deal with your feelings in an honest way. You will find it easier to heal and forgive if you can lovingly accept the fears and vulnerabilities which resulted from the pain and disappointment you suffered in childhood and adolescence. You will then be better able to deal with the feelings that are so depressing at the moment.
