Pvt. Kristian Menchaca|Pvt. Thomas Tucker

Pvt. Kristian Menchaca, 23, from Houston, and Pvt. Thomas Tucker, 25, of Madras, Ore., were last seen on Friday during an attack on a roadside checkpoint south of Baghdad.

Sadly, the funeral of Pvt. Tucker is being held at this moment. CNN said about 17 minutes ago that coverage would begin in 5 minutes. Typically, they are running domestic flood coverage. You know. People who went through something devastating and soldiers swimming up to their front doors to tell them their houses weren't going to make it through the latest flood.

Since when did water run red, white, and blue?

Update on CNN:
I'd never blast Fredricka Whitfield, however,
she just blew it when she said "update on weight gain and cigarette quitting."

Control room, please?

Surprising incidents ***
No other influence is more conducive than this one to sudden upsets, rash behavior and surprising incidents. Energy seems to burst out all over the place and in surprising forms. It is very often difficult to make plans during this time precisely because so much happens without any warning. In its direct psychological expression, that is, when it is not sublimated or converted into a different form of energy, this influence indicates a sudden desire to assert your freedom, to kick away all limitations and break free. A positive use of this energy would be to begin a totally new and innovative project that consumes a great deal of energy and that will be largely identified with you when it is completed. You need to assert your individuality at this time, and this is a constructive way of doing it.

I <3 Texas

This started with iPopped! and her blog over in Denmark (?) and the Jacques Lu Cont mix, which is killer with Hung Up (you really don't have to ask, do you?) and Born to Be Alive|Patrick Hernandez...

and then I heard the original version,
and was floored.

How many songs can floor you? Twice?

What About Us?|Texas

He came home late from his work one day
Said he wanted some time alone
What about you, what about me, what about love
I knew I couldn’t take this love heartache
I knew I couldn’t stand it alone
What about you, what about me, what about us

Oh I know I’m special inside
And oh I gave you all of my life
And here we go

I’ve seen it before
When I just needed more
Than your touch
Here we go
You’re not a million miles
You’re not a million miles from me

He came home late from his work one day
Said he wanted some time alone
What about you, what about me, what about love
He came home late and apparantly
He was someone else when he got home
What about you, what about me, what about us

Aaah I know I’m special inside
And how I gave you all of my life
And here we go

I've seen it before
when I just needed more
than your touch

Robert Mapplethorpe

In 1977, Robert Mapplethorpe photographed a torn American flag, ostensibly flying proudly over a notoriously-gay section of The Pines, Fire Island. This photograph, singularly, did not cause as much of an uproar as a bullwhip inserted up his ass, taken in the same time period.

Nearly thirty years later, the start of the Fourth of July holiday weekend is heralded by redwhiteandblue balloons at every automobile dealership on every strip in every city in America.

The debate about respecting the American flag wages on (I've personally seen it flying in the rain, touching the ground, and flying after sunset) and shoving a bullwhip up your ass in the name of art will only be superceded by (insert pun here.)

You make me feel mighty real|Sylvester 1977

The Decisive Moment

Years ago, perhaps over a decade and a half, someone said how they feared my eyes because they were those of a serial killer. A short time later, someone who knew why I put it down knew I would return and pick it back up, and they were frightened. This time, she said, you will have seen more than you can handle, felt more than you were meant to feel, and would wonder why you were still able to put one foot in front of another. That time is now.

The last time I saw the black bag, I was climbing a tree, and it was just too much. Or was I just too much? Later that evening, I saw a silhouette in the cemetery, holding a gun, as it tried to make out my figure against the looming headstones. I never saw the bag again. In my vain attempt at reclaiming what I handed to the devil, I heard from some pawn shop owner blocks from the boneyard that some cracked-out drag queen sold the entire bag for $40. I'd've paid $400 for the contents. Including the hundreds of business cards that gave my name and number on some ORBIT ORANGE cardstock. SCREAMING in bold letters THESE EYES AREN'T YOURS.

I know I choked later that evening, gagged even. Was it the thought? or was it the company? I know the company provoked the evil path of the evening, and what do I have? Nothing.

That's what happened to my eyes. That's where they were left, and that's the outline of the story. There's more, but then there's nothing left to read. I do know there's nothing left to feel, save some beating in my heart and a heaving in my chest.

Now I'm more dangerous than Diane on the fourth day. Henrî just before the dash. Weegee at the cake box murder.

What's in the box? What's on your mind?
Can you see?

That's not the point.
You'll feel the razor, after it drew itself across my pupil.

Sin tit.

This Song Has No Title
Lyrics by Bernie Taupin
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road|1973 Elton John

Tune me in to the wild side of life
I'm an innocent young child sharp as a knife
Take me to the garretts where the artists have died
Show me the courtrooms where the judges have lied

Let me drink deeply from the water and the wine
Light coloured candles in dark dreary mines
Look in the mirror and stare at myself
And wonder if that's really me on the shelf

And each day I learn just a little bit more
I don't know why but I do know what for
If we're all going somewhere let's get there soon
Oh this song's got no title just words and a tune

Take me down alleys where the murders are done
In a vast high powered rocket to the core of the sun
Want to read books in the studies of men
Born on the breeze and die on the wind

If I was an artist who paints with his eyes
I'd study my subject and silently cry
Cry for the darkness to come down on me
For confusion to carry on turning the wheel

I'm sorry this wasn't meant for you.
I'd trade what I do know for what you don't know.

One Caress

We'll never be back where we began.
Will we ever be somewhere other than here?
Will there be something other than now?

I fumble like some geeky high-school boy
looking for your hand at the early show.
With the anticipation, and the trepidation.

One Caress|Depeche Mode

Well I'm down on my knees again
And I pray to the only one
Who has the strength
To bear the pain
To forgive all the things that I've done

Oh girl
Lead me into your darkness
When this world is trying it's hardest
To leave me unimpressed
Just one caress
From you and I'm blessed

When you think you've tried every road
Every avenue
Take one more look
At what you found old
And in it you'll find something new

I'm shying from the light
I always loved the night
And now you offer me eternal darkness

I have to believe that sin
Can make a better man
It's the mood that I am in
That left us back where we began

Can you READ?

Because I can see.

What I Need.

I know what I googled, I know what the results were.
I know what I was looking for, I know what I needed.
This is what I found within the first 10 that I could find acceptable,
on some level.
But I'm not even saying what I googled in the first place.

Let's just say I still have a need.
Switching chairs will be a start.

Hartford's Confessions, Take II

The saddest thing for me is that my friends from "back in the day" didn't "live to tell" because they never really quite found out. Now, the catch phrase for the film has to go through the copyrighters because "records" aren't around anymore, in the conventional sense.

Still. There's something about having been there.

I think it's kinda funny.
I think it's kinda sad.
The dreams in which I'm dying
are the best I've ever had.

And I've been dreaming this way since December 1982.
When were you born?

Yeah, I've been to a few of those parties.
As a matter of fact, the best thing I'd heard was:
"what're you gonna do? Piss? or piss, and make somebody happy?"

Lies Lies Lies Lies Lies

My sister gets so RIPPED and not in the right direction when I use here in the "she was there, she's the witness" to my Thompson Twins at The Agora Ballroom in 1985? story. They put the meaning of party. We were the innocent bystanders.

I think their songs drip with ache. But ache you would actually get over.

All I ever wanted, all I ever needed...

Barring David, who is (thankfully skirting edge) there either seems a complete disregard for absolut regard for the body, make, in particular.
The more explorative of you will see that the link above takes you straight, pun intended, to Robert Mapplethorpe.

ORIGINAL PHOTO MANIP AFTER THE JUMP

Let me take you on a trip
Around the world and back
And you won't have to move
You just sit still
Now let your mind do walking
And let my body do the talking
Let me show you the world in my eyes

I'll take you to the highest mountain
To the depths of the deepest sea
We won't need a map, believe me
Now let my body do the moving
And let my hands do the soothing
Let me show you she world in my eyes

That's all there is
Nothing more than you can feel now
That's all there is

Let me put you on a ship
On a long, long trip
Your lips close to my lips
All the islands in the ocean
All the heaven's in the motion
Let me show you the world in my eyes

That's all there is
Nothing more than you can touch now
That's all there is

Let me show you the world in my eyes

Shame.

You had something to hide
Should have hidden it, shouldn't you?
